Hearing Aid Store
Hearing Aid Express Company History
Hearing Aid Express was created as a concept in Dallas in May of 1989. The name and format were the idea of Mr. A.W. McGinnes, since retired to Kingston, Oklahoma. Although in office assembly of hearing aids had been available for years, Mr. McGinnes was the first person to offer in-office assembly of hearing aids as a business format in and of itself. Hearing Aid Express was immediately a hit, requiring the original 800 sq ft office to be moved to a larger location in just eight months.
In 1991 Mark Brumback purchased the rights to the Hearing Aid Express name, concept and Houston operating territory from Mr. McGinnes. The first Hearing Aid Express in Houston opened in Bellaire, Texas in November of 1991. In October of 1993 Mr. Brumback purchased the last two offices owned by Mr. McGinnes and by 1995 had re-purchased all previously sold offices and territories and operated them under the Hearing Aids Express Corporation and trademark. Mr. Brumback currently acts as the company’s president and CEO.
Hearing Aid Express is one of the largest independently-owned and operated practices in the country, having sold more than 50,000 hearing aids, repaired more than 60,000 and selling more than 500,000 hearing aid batteries per year. We are also a proud member of the BBB in every city we operate in.
Hearing Aid Express has won numerous awards throughout the years, including Houston’s 100 fastest growing businesses (3 times), as well as largest account status with several manufacturers, including Bernafon, Sonic Innovations and GN ReSound.
Although Hearing Aid Express no longer offers in office assembly of hearing aids, our 26,000 clients know the name stands for excellent timely service of all hearing aid needs. Our 2 FDA registered labs still produce earmolds, do hearing aid repairs and are authorized repair facilities for both Sonic Innovations and GN ReSound.
